Welcome to the Ongoing review section of the resource.

Reviews are key to helping learners move forward. Formal or informal, reviews are opportunities for you to convey to learners that you are interested in, and knowledgeable about, what they are doing and how they are progressing.

The learner experience
In the ongoing review process, learners:

  • experience a respectful, positive and supportive climate in which the reviewer conveys their interest in, and knowledge about what they are doing and how they are progressing
  • receive feedback in scheduled one-to-one review sessions
  • receive regular feedback during teaching and other sessions
  • are encouraged and helped to think and talk about what is going well
  • are encouraged and helped to think about what is not going so well
  • are helped to think and talk about what they want to do next
  • have the opportunity to self-assess and reflect on what they have achieved and how
  • receive meaningful feedback based on objective evidence
  • are helped to formulate their long-term goals
  • create, with the reviewer, meaningful and specific targets.
