About these resources

These resources are part of the Quality Improvement Agency's National Teaching and Learning Change Programme.

If you are an SHD Learning Coach (SLC) or teach SHD, you will find materials and suggestions that will:

  • support and further develop the use of active learning approaches in Scoiety, health and development teaching and learning
  • provide inspiration to help you continue the National Teaching Learning and Change Programme in your place of work
  • encourage a focus on vocational relevance
  • develop skills in co-operative learning
  • engage and motivate less confident learners
  • encourage learners to become expert learners; and
  • address topics that learners find difficult.

Guide to opening and saving files

Select one of the files listed to open it. It will open using the appropriate application if available. The majority of documents are also held in RTF format so they can be opened and amended in most word processing packages.

Viewing PDFs

Some of the downloads on this website are PDF files. To see these files you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your machine. If you need to install this software, you can download it from the Adobe website.

Saving a file

When a file is open, select Save As from the File menu and save it to your hard disk drive.

In some browsers, the files will open in the current window. To return to browsing the website, select the Back button in the browser toolbar.

Guide to downloading and saving video clips

  1. Choose the format you wish to download (either QuickTime or Flash)
  2. PC users: Right click on the file type icon (QuickTime or Flash) and select 'Save target as ...'
  3. Macintosh users: Hold down the mouse button on the file type icon (QuickTime or Flash) and select 'Download link to...'

You will then receive a dialogue box with instruction on how to save your video clip.

If you do not have QuickTime installed on your computer, you can download it from the QuickTime website.

The videos and interactive activities on this website use Adobe Flash Player 8. If you need to install this plug-in, you can download it from the Adobe Flash Player website.
